What is General (Property and Casualty) Insurance?
General Insurance typically comprises any insurance that is not determined to be
Life insurance. It is called Property and Casualty Insurance in Canada and U.S.
Non-life Insurance in Continental Europe.
General Insurance or Non-life insurance policies, including Automobile, Property, and
Liability policies (Personal or Business), provide payments depending on the loss from a
particular financial event.
In order to provide advisory to your clients and sell property & casualty
insurance within the Province of Alberta you must first become licensed. All
general insurance licenses are issued and managed through the provincial
regulator, the Alberta Insurance Council(AIC).
What is GLQP Level 1 Course?
The GLQP Level 1 (General Licensing Qualification Program) is a program in place by
Alberta Insurance Council (AIC). (www.ABcouncil.ab.ca). To challenge AIC exam, you
must take GLQP level 1 Course and get Certified by an Authorized GLQP Education
Provider before you can register for Alberta Provincial Licensing exam.
